JOHNS CREEK EARTH DAY
The Wildlife Team has partnered with the Chattahoochee River NRA and National Parks Service to establish an annual Johns Creek Earth Day Family event. Earth Day has been held the past two years at the Chattahoochee River Environmental Education Center with great speakers and many families in attendance.
This year on Saturday, April 21, 2012, the Johns Creek Earth Day featured a Family Reptile and Campfire event. Mr Greg's Reptile Roadshow gave a great presentation to a large audience of families, entertaining everyone with a variety of creatures including an enormous boa. National Park Ranger Jerry Hightower led families on a wonderful night hike, and everyone enjoyed a campfire with marshmallows and other great organic snacks provided by Whole Foods of Johns Creek.
On April 22, 2011, the Wildlife Habitat Project sponsored the first ever Johns Creek Earth Day Celebration. This family event focused on frogs and featured State Herpetologist Jon Jenson and National Park Ranger Jerry Hightower. The event was sponsored in partnership with the Chattahoochee River NRA and Whole Foods Market of Johns Creek.
Many families attended this fantastic event, enjoying live frog demonstrations, a guided hike in the woods, organic treats, and marshmallows roasted over an open fire.
